Bart Eisenbarth

Dentist

Bart Eisenbarth grew up in a rural town in the mountain state of Idaho in the northwest corner of the United States. He attended the University of Idaho, where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Zoology, followed by a brief career in pharmaceutical clinical research. Bart then went on to Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. After graduating from Creighton, Bart returned to Idaho to go into private practice.

After ten years of private practice ownership, Bart decided to pursue the care of patients in more remote and underserved areas. He and his family relocated to St. Croix, US Virgin Islands, where he was the dental director of a community health centre with oversight of three busy dental clinics. After several years and one very large hurricane, he moved on to the wilderness state of Maine, where he was the Chief Dental Officer of a very large community health centre dental facility for three years prior to moving to New Zealand. Bart currently splits his professional time in New Zealand between private practice and his role as the regional Approving Dental Officer and Clinical Advisor for HNZ/Te Whatu Ora.

Throughout his career, Bart has been involved in dental education, most notably as the Residency Director for the Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency programs operated in both the US Virgin Islands and Maine. In addition, he was an Adjunct Professor with the University of New England Dental School in Maine. Bart's dedication to dental education and clinical practice standards also prompted him to serve as a clinical board examiner for five years for the Western Regional Examining Board in the United States.

Bart is a Fellow of the International College of Dentists and is a member of the New Zealand Dental Association and the New Zealand Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. He has also volunteered on two health expeditions to the mountains of India with the Himalayan Health Exchange, where he worked with an international team to deliver health care to the local people.

When Bart is not practising dentistry, he spends most of his time with his wife, two sons, and daughter enjoying the outdoors by hiking, mountain biking, surfing, skiing, fishing and scuba diving. He is also an award-winning artist who enjoys painting and drawing.
