Waipā Dental FAQ's

Booking

How do I book, reschedule or cancel an appointment?

You can book online via our website, call us on 07 444 4068, or pop into the practice. If you need to reschedule or cancel, please let us know at least 48 hours ahead so we can offer the slot to another patient. If cancellations are made with less notice or you don’t show up, we may need to apply a cancellation fee.

Which dentist will I be seeing?

If you’re new to Waipā Dental, you can let us know which dentist you’d like to see when booking, and we’ll do our best to make it happen. If you don’t have a preference, we’ll match you with one of our friendly dentists who has availability. Returning patients usually see the same dentist as before, unless you request otherwise. On rare occasions, our schedule may change, and we'll get in touch if a different dentist will be looking after you that day.

What if I want to see a different dentist next time?

No problem at all! Just give us a call on 07 444 4068 and we’ll arrange your next visit with whomever you’d like to see.

Where do I fill out my new patient forms?

You can fill them out at the clinic on the day of your appointment — we just ask that you arrive about 15 minutes early to give yourself time to complete them before your visit.

What services do you offer?

We provide a full range of dental care — from regular check-ups and cleans to restorative treatments like fillings, implants, and crowns.

We also offer Invisalign clear aligners for comfortable, nearly invisible teeth straightening, as well as cosmetic services such as teeth whitening and veneers.

Plus, we’re here for emergency dental care when you need it most.
You can read more about our services on our website.

What if I need something not listed?

If you don't see the service you are looking for, then please give us a call. Chances are, we offer it, and if not, we'll connect you to a trusted specialist who can help.

How do I book a follow-up visit?

At the end of your appointment, our team will help you schedule your next visit before you head out.
If you’d rather check your calendar first, just text or call us later at 07 444 4068 and we’ll find a time that suits you.

Do you treat children / families?

Yes, we welcome patients of all ages, including children. We also provide free dental care for adolescents from year 9 (around age 13) up to their 18th birthday.

Can I get a second opinion?

Of course! If another dentist has suggested treatment and you’d like a second opinion, we’re happy to help. Just call us on 07 444 4068.

And if you’re already one of our patients, you’re more than welcome to seek another opinion — we’ll provide your treatment plan to share with them.

Your Visit

What should I do if I’m running late or miss my appointment?

We understand life happens! If you’re running behind, just give us a quick call. If you’re more than 10 minutes late, we may need to reschedule to ensure adequate time for your care. If you’ve missed your appointment altogether, please contact us as soon as you can so we can rebook you.

How long will my appointment take?

It depends on the nature of your visit. A routine check-up or hygiene appointment for a new patient usually takes around 60 minutes, which allows us plenty of time to listen and look after you properly. Consultations usually take around 30 minutes.

When should I arrive for my appointment?

We recommend arriving a few minutes early so you can relax and settle in.

If you’re a new patient and haven’t filled out your forms yet, please arrive about 15 minutes before your appointment to complete your paperwork

I’m nervous about the dentist, can you help me feel more comfortable?

Absolutely - we completely understand!

If you feel anxious about your visit, let our team know ahead of time. We can chat through what to expect and make sure you feel at ease. You're welcome to listen to music with our noise-cancelling headphones, request a weighted blanket, or simply let us know how we can help you feel more comfortable.

Can I use a different name or pronoun?

Yes, of course. Please tell us your preferred name or pronouns when filling out your forms, or just let our front team know. We’ll make sure our records reflect your preferences.

Insurance & Payment

Do you take dental insurance?

Yes, we work with a range of major insurers. Our friendly reception team can help you understand your cover and make the most of your benefits.

What if I don’t have dental insurance?

No worries! If you’re a new patient without insurance, your first visit — including x-rays, a full check-up, and a gentle clean — is about $330.

If you have any questions, give us a call at 07 444 4068 and we’ll be happy to explain what’s included.

Does insurance cover fillings, crowns, implants, and other procedures?

That depends on your insurance provider.

Before any procedure, we’ll check your cover and give you an upfront estimate of your costs. If needed, we can request a pre-approval from your insurer so you’ll know exactly what’s covered before treatment begins.

Have questions about a specific procedure? Call us at 07 444 4068 and we’ll talk you through it.

How do I pay my bill?

Payment is due at your appointment. We accept EFTPOS and major credit cards for your convenience.

What if I have more questions about insurance?

Insurance can be confusing — and that’s okay!
Call us anytime at 07 444 4068 and our team will happily walk you through your options and coverage.

Invisalign

Do you offer Invisalign?

Yes, we do! We’re proud to provide Invisalign clear aligners as a discreet and comfortable way to straighten your smile. Ask your dentist at your next visit if Invisalign might be right for you.

How long does Invisalign treatment take?

Your first consultation takes about 30 minutes so we can assess if Invisalign is a good fit for you.
If you’re ready to begin, we can often do your digital scans and photos at the same visit (about another 30 minutes) — or you can book another time that suits you.
